AIDA Crossover Evaluation for Students from Other Freediving Organisations
We often get inquiries from students from other freediving organisations who have not completed part of their requirements of their certification. Students have the option of completing their certification with the world body, AIDA International. To do so, such students will need to complete a Crossover Evaluation. This involves:
- Assessment of the level of knowledge of the student by means of passing the AIDA 2 Freediver written exam at 75% or higher. Allow a minimum of one hour for this assessment.
- Assessment of the pool or confined water skills equivalent to the level of the AIDA 2 Freediver course. Allow about two hours for this assessment.
- Assessment of all ocean or open water skills equivalent to the level of the AIDA 2 Freediver course. This is typically one morning of about 4 hours including the boat trip to and from the dive site.
Freediving Gold Coast charges $330 for this Crossover Evaluation. This includes all boat fees and certification fee. On successful completion of the Crossover Evaluation students will be certified as AIDA 2 Freediver with AIDA International. Please choose the option “Crossover Evaluation” from the drop down menu under “Start Dates.

Here is a nice video of AIDA Instructor Cristy Gearon illustrating a very relaxed 20m FIM (Free Immersion) for AIDA 2 students off the Gold Coast in about 22 metres visibility. This is one of the key skills learnt on the Ocean Freediver course for AIDA 2 Certification.
