Freediving Fiji Adventure


Freediving Fiji Adventure is learning to freedive deeper, safer and freer in one of the most pristine freediving environments on planet Earth, untouched by pollution, plastic bags and man made damage. Dive in crystal clear waters of up to 30 metres visibility, with water temperatures of 27 to 28 degrees centigrade with unlimited depth (except of course limited by your own ability and skill level). and with opportunities to observe beautiful corals and fish. You will come away with more than life long memories. Included is certification in the gold standard of freediving education with International Association for the Development of Apnea (AIDA) with  AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver or AIDA 4 Master Freediver. Additional sightseeing adventures are available including freedivng Sandbar Reef, traditional Fijian BBQ (Lovo) on the last night, Saltwater Creek Drift Advanture, and freediving the Pearl Farm.

Your Freediving Fiji Adventure includes:

  • 7 days in total consisting of 6 morning of depth freediving from the dive boat (to allow maximum performance and recovery the schedule will be 3 mornings of depth diving followed by a rest day and then a further 3 mornings of depth diving).
  • All boat fees for morning depth dives.
  • AIDA 3 Advanced Freediver or AIDA 4 Master Freediving certification.
  • 6 afternoons of theory and confied water/pool sessions.
  • Traditional Fijian BBQ or Lovo on the final night.

Pool Freediving Competitions

Freediving Gold Coast is holding two pool freediving mini competitions in 2020 according to the following schedule:

11/4/21 AIDA Freedivng Gold Coast Club Static Minicomp 2021 (25m pool of 1.1 to 1.4m depth).

27/6/21 AIDA Freediving Gold Coast Club Dynamic Minicomp 2021 (Bifins/Monofin Only in 50m pool of 2m depth).

All these freediving competitions are advertised on the AIDA Upcoming Events Calendar. The venue is the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre from 8.30 to 12pm on these dates. All competitions will follow AIDA International Freediving Rules for Competitions and Records and Freediving Gold Coast Pool Standards Code. All are International competitions leading to AIDA International ranking on the AIDA International website. We welcome competitors from Australia and overseas and members from any national freediving organisation. Entry Cost to venue is $6.30.

The Static competition is held in the 25m pool while the dynamic competitions for bifin/monofin are held in the 50m training pool. The Dynamic competition for no fins is in the 25m pool.

All pools are heated with an average pool temperature of about 28 degrees centigrade.

Competition Structure

Each athlete must complete and submit the following documents via email by 5pm on the Thursday before the competition to email

  • AP (Announced Performance)
  • AIDA Medical Form – must be GP signed
  • AIDA Liability Form
  • Passport (current) photo / details for evidence of your nationality.
  • Registration with the Australian Freediving Association (AFA)
  • Freediver Certification (AIDA2 Pool minimum or certification equivalent)

Competition briefing is at 8.30am on the day of the competition with the first OT (Official Top) commencing at 10am.

Each performance will be measured and converted into points according to AIDA Competition Regulations. Athletes with the highest cumulative points across all Freediving Gold Coast competitions in the year will be awarded either 2020 Freediving Gold Coast Male Champion or 2020 Freediving Gold Coast Female Champion.

Competition Prerequisites

Once payment is received you will be sent an information pack about the competition and asked to email copies of:

Passport to verify nationality.

AIDA Medical Statement signed by a medical doctor. Download Medical Form Here.

AIDA Liability Release signed and dated by the competitor. Download AIDA Liability Release Here.

Proof of certification of freediving education/training equivalent to AIDA 2 Pool Freediver.

Failure to provide this documentation by 5pm on the Friday prior to the competition will result in being unable to compete and forfeiture of the registration fee.


Registration is now open.

Limited to a maximum of 10 athletes from Australia or overseas for the Static competition and a maximum of 15 athletes for the dynamic competitions.

All athletes must be a qualified freediver (minimum AIDA 2 Pool Freediver or international equivalent).

General registration fee is $95.

Special Registration fee for current Freediving Gold Coast High Performance Coaching (HPC) members $50.

If for some reason you decide to withdraw, our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • 100% refund 4 weeks prior to competition day.
  • 50% refund 2 weeks prior to competition day.
  • No refund less than 2 weeks prior to competition day.

Registration fee does not include pool entry ($6.30) transport to and from venue, and any food/drinks. Freediving Gold Coast is not responsible for any medical expenses, medical evacuation expenses, or hospitalization expenses incurred as a result of competing in the competition and any such expenses are the responsibility of the competitor and their own personal insurance.

Ultimate Freediving Rubber Weight Belt


The Ultimate Freedivng Rubber Weight Belt has the following qualities:

  • 1.3 metres long (excluding the length of the buckle) and 5cm width.
  • 10 holes at approximately every 55mm.
  • The rubber belt contains 4 ridges along its length in order to help hold the dive weights on.
  • The buckle is 316 stainless steel “Marseillaise” style with quick release.
  • The high quality black rubber belt self-compensates to changes in the wetsuit’s thickness at different depths.
  • The belt is flexible and adjusts to the diver’s movements when worn correctly on the hips.

Ultimate Freediving Silicone Weight Belt


The Ultimate Freediving Silicone Weight Belt has the following qualities:

    • 1.2 metres long (excluding the length of the buckle); 4.5cm width; and 4.5mm thickness.
    • 8 holes at approximately every 50mm.
    • The silicone belt has a rough finish on the outside and a smooth finish on the inside. We believe the rough finish adds to stickiness and holding dive weights.
    • The buckle is 316 stainless steel for high rust resistance and “Marseillaise” style with quick release.
    • 100% high quality silicone.
    • The high quality silcone belt has a standard tensile strength of 200kg (so strong!).
    • But the belt is slightly more flexible than a typical rubber belt giving better performance in adjusting for depth.
    • The silicone belt is resistant to UV and saltwater.
